The region is bounded to the East by the River Avon running North from the sea to Salisbury and then West through the middle of Salisbury plain to Westbury, thence West to the Bristol Channel at Highbridge before turning South to the sea at Sidmouth. The coastline to the South includes the Jurassic coast and the more built up areas around Poole and Bournemouth. Dorset is a magnificent county which is well within two hours of London at its Eastern end and very attractive at the Western end.
